I’ve been wanting to do this for quite some time. I finally understood that I don’t necessarily need to receive AND transmit to be an asset for APRS in my county, but just receiving was going to be of help. So I pulled this old IC-2100 out of storage (my first mobile radio BTW) and set it up with a Raspberry Pi. Massive thanks to KM4ACK for his video on setting up an iGate.
Connected to a copper j-pole at about 6 feet above ground, it’s not huge coverage. But it’s at least something to help the effort in my part of the county.
