What a fun and yet sobering week of ham radio. Had a good time at the La Porte, Indiana hamfest of Saturday. It was nice to get to a hamfest after a long hiatus and I was able to pick up some supplies for upcoming projects.
On the air, I worked a number of stations on FT8:
- Poland, Falkland Islands (on 12m!), Sardinia, Romania, Germany, Azores, Mauritania, and finally…AUSTRALIA!
On phone:
- Belgium, and lots of POTA stations.
The most significant contact for me this week was with UY7VV in Ukraine. I’m sure many amateurs that work the digital modes saw a lot of Ukraine stations on the air the night before the hostilities began. While I only made the one contact, it is a meaningful connection for me to the conflict in that country. My family and I are praying daily for the people of Ukraine, that this unjust invasion would come to an end, and UY7VV and his family are OK through this.
