A New Beginning

By | September 26, 2025

Several folks have asked me what happened to my YouTube channel. Here is the truth. And yes, I have the email exchanges and videos to back it up.

Early in 2025, I was made aware that someone was using the moniker “Everyday Ham” for their podcast. After conversing via email, and their subsequent registering of the trademark AFTER I let them know I had been using that for my brand for two and a half years, I decided not pursue action. I have no doubt I would have won the dispute, but the only winners in that scenario are attorneys.

June 2026 Update

By | June 26, 2026

How is it that we are halfway through the year already? Time is flying! It’s been a heckuva ride so far, and I hope it slows down soon!

You may (or may not) have noticed that I took the YouTube channel completely down. There are personal reasons for this that I can’t get into. I hope to bring it back some day in some way, shape, or form.

Frankly, many of the “ham-tuber” channels are, in my opinion, boring. It’s a mutual admiration society. Everyone is on everyone else’s channel as a guest, they all review the same cheap Chinese radios and gadgets, and really very few are innovative. There are certainly some notable exceptions, like K4OGO “Salty” Walt. I learn a lot from his channel and love his books. Highly recommended!

I continue to dip my toes into contesting. I was signed up for Contest University, but a very important and unmovable appointment came up and I had to miss CTU. That sucked out loud. Maybe next year.

I’m writing this on the eve of Field Day 2026. Our local club is getting all geared up and ready to participate. It’s a great day to get on the air, even if you’re participating 1D. (That’s one person at home on commercial power.) Go make those contacts!

If you are interested in in seeing a YouTube channel of my adventures, drop me a line. I’m good on QRZ. 🙂

Until next time, 73! N8VOX

New Years 2026 Update

By | January 3, 2026

It is January 3, 2026 as I type this. Like many, the past couple of weeks I’ve reflected on the year that has passed and am ready to embrace the year ahead.

2025 was tough in my ham radio endeavors mainly because of one thing: the theft of my “Everyday Ham” brand by the inconsiderate jerks in Michigan. But I’ve already written about that. May God have mercy on them.

LOOKING AHEAD…I believe 2026 is going to be the year I take my contesting to a whole new level! To that end, I have a Heil PSE6 headset on the way. I dipped my toes in the SSB Sprint and really gave it a go. I’m presently having a blast with the World Wide Award (WWA) event. While not explicitly a contest, it kind of is for hunters. Winter Field Day approaches and I have been planning it for my local club. I think we have a good operation planned and just might surprise some folks with our score. I guess we’ll see!

I have registered for Contest University in Dayton, the day before Hamvention. Not gonna kid you…I am STOKED for this! I’ve been watching presentations from previous years and am really looking forward to learning and applying that knowledge this year.
